This flower is a Mariposa Lily, aka a Calochortus. I thought I had stumbled upon some rare flower, but they turned out to be numerous. I took dozens of pictures of these little guys, many of which are in this gallery. This is probably the worst of the bunch.
Stopped the car to take a picture of this "giant dandelion" -Goat's Beard - and it wasn't until my fifth picture of so that I noticed the ladybug.

This is the same picture as the one before, but I prefer the black and white - it goes well with the contrast between the plant and the background, and it makes that little red bug really stand out.
